Pitch your story to editors

Your story, pitched to editors who’d run it.

Short pitches in your voice, one angle per outlet.

How it works.

River reads what each outlet ran this year, finds the editor who assigns it and what it pays, and writes a pitch that sounds like you and fits their readers.

  1. Share the idea

One line or a Doc is enough, plus any dream outlets you have in mind.

  2. River reads each outlet

Six to eight outlets checked live, a reach or two among strong fits, closed ones swapped out.

  3. Out on your one yes

Every pitch goes the same day, each with its own angle; one at a time only if you want an exclusive.

What you get.

  • A Pitch tracker Sheet: outlet, editor, related piece, pay, angle and status
  • A 150 to 250 word pitch for each editor, with two of your clips linked
  • A two-line follow-up in each thread after a silent week

A few things to know.

Which outlets will it pick?

A mix from your clips: one or two reaches and the rest strong fits, each one that has really run this kind of story and has a named editor. Add dream outlets and River checks them too.

Will it agree to a rate for me?

No. River pitches and follows up, but rates and terms are yours to settle with the editor.

What does it cost?

It uses your plan’s AI credit, like everything else in River. Pitches go out from your own email, so editors reply straight to you.
